Fulfilling Your AP Wish List
|
While it may not be an actual piece of paper that you "accidentally" leave around for your parents to find, every accounts payable department has a wish list of projects that they would love to complete.
This issue features information to help you check some items off that wish list. Also, find out how the holiday shopping season may help usher in a dramatic change in sales taxes.

Automation Planning |
When rolling out AP technology, planning is everything. A poorly planned implementation can mean the difference between a successful new process and an expensive disaster. Key aspects of an implementation plan include:
- Mapping Processes: Project managers should first chart their paper process and identify all inefficiencies and bottlenecks
- Gaining Management Support: Present all issues with existing processes to management, being sure to emphasize how automation would address each one
- Diversify the Project Team: Your team should include subject matter experts from all areas that a new system would impact, such as AP, IT, treasury, purchasing, and any other affected departments
One of the toughest parts about automating can be finding the money for the project. See TAPC's complimentary special report, A Brief Guide to Investing Scarce Budget Dollars in Accounts Payable Automation Solutions, written by AP consultant Dan Parnas and sponsored by Perceptive Software, for help identifying which projects will give your organization the most bang for its buck.
