Identifying which accounts payable metrics your organization will track is difficult, so too is deciding what to do with the information once you have it. The following are ways to use metrics to improve your processes:
- Review findings with internal customers: Show them how your company is doing compared to benchmark organizations. Explain how new processes affect the numbers.
- Develop two-way SLAs: Use metrics to show that in order for AP to provide a specific level of service, other departments, such as purchasing, must also provide better service levels.
- Track progress towards goal: Publish charts in a public area and communicate the progress towards achieving a process goal.
