Choose Automation Wisely
|
Your organization's procurement department only buys goods after researching to determine they are the best fit for the best price. Accounts payable departments should adopt the same strategy when selecting a new AP automation provider.
This issue features information to help your organization make more knowledgeable technology purchasing decisions. In addition, learn how one agency is hoping to pave the way for more automation in government.

Government e-Invoicing |
Beginning in 2013, the U.S. Treasury Department will require all of its vendors to submit invoices electronically. The move would save taxpayers millions of dollars a year.

Selecting the Right Software |
When you are in the market for a new technology solution, it is easy to fall in love with the first provider you see. However, selecting the right piece of software requires considerable effort. Suggestions include:
- Delay talking to suppliers: Determine exactly what you need from a solution before reaching out to providers.
- Prioritize your needs: Figure out what functionality you must have, want to have, and would like to have
- Research suppliers: Find providers that offer what you need. Also check their viability (size, financials, years in business, etc)
For more on selecting the right provider, be sure to attend the session "How to Assess & Buy Technology," featuring Henry Ijams with PayStream Advisors. The session is part of the upcoming The Accounts Payable Productivity Summit 2011. The virtual conference earns up to 7.5 CEUs and 7 CPEs.
