Internal Benchmarking |
Benchmarking does not always mean looking at another organization's AP department. You can also learn by comparing your department to others within your own company. When benchmarking in your own "backyard," consider:
- Forming a cross-functional team to promote the enterprise-wide creation and communication of best practices.
- Developing an employee rotation system. This allows employees to pick up process improvement ideas while working in other departments.
- Encouraging other managers to report on a regular basis about what processes and management techniques they use.
For more on how you can find great process improvement ideas without leaving your company, see Best Benchmarking Practice: Look in Your Own Backyard on TAPC.
