The Risks and Rewards of Technology
|
Any technology implementation has the capacity to revolutionize how your department manages accounts payable or to become a costly disaster delivering few benefits. A proper implementation plan can prevent the former from turning into the latter.
This issue highlights the ways to ensure a successful technology implementation while also calling attention to some of the pitfalls.

Is Cloud Right for You? |
Software providers are now focusing a lot of attention on their low-cost cloud offerings, especially when it comes to small and mid-size businesses. However, cloud technology may not be the best idea for every organization.

Paperless Successes |
Preventing a disastrous technology implementation starts at the beginning. When choosing a provider, you should have a system for narrowing down your choices. This system may include:
- Sending potential vendors a questionnaire asking them for general and specific information about their product.
- Use an RFP checklist to evaluate whether a provider's capabilities match the functionalities you are looking for.
- Rating the RFPs based on how closely they match what you need. This helps you single out your top choices.
(Members of The Accounts Payable Network have access to pre-written tools that can help you with each of these steps. See Benefits of membership)

Just for Fun! |
In what could be described as a truly odd couple, a blind dog in Poland now gets around thanks to the assistance of a goose who appears to enjoy taking responsibility for its sightless pal. See I Lean: Seeing Eye Goose Befriends Blind Dog.
